NEW DELHI: The team Chennai Super Kings was led by former Indian Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni arrived in Dubai on August 21 and had to go through the coronavirus test and the whole team should quarantine themselves for six days.
Many members of the Chennai Super Kings have tested positive for covid-19 after their arrival in Dubai on August 21, reported by local media on Friday, afterwards they are going to prepare themselves for the IPL (Indian Premier League) which has to start in the United Arab Emirates next month.
A source in the IPL said by the Press Trust of Indian news agency, “A right-arm medium fast bowler, who has recently played for India, along with a few staff members have tested positive for Covid-19.”
The source also added that “A management official, his wife and at least two members of their social media team have also tested positive.” And they are also sent to the quarantine.
The official top team Chennai Super Kings (CSK) did not directly reply to any query from AFP.
According to the Times of India the team Chennai will now have to quarantine themselves for another week following the latest development, also they have to delay their preparations for the eight-team contest. Afterwards they are going to follow all the directions and should have maintain distance from other teams in order to prevent the spread of this virus.
The T20 tournament was originally planned to start in March but had to move from India because of the fast spread of the coronavirus across the country, India is the third worst-hit by Corona in the world after the US and Brazil that is the reason they delayed the matches.
The Chennai franchise, led by former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, arrived in Dubai on August 21 and underwent the mandatory six-day quarantine as per IPL guidelines. Whole team and some were from their management, families and social media team is Quarantined after testing positive for corona virus. Also they have to take all precautionary measures before starting their practice for IPL.
The whole team of CSK which also includes its support staff, officials, and members were tested for the fourth time on Friday and are safely quarantined said by the English-language daily.
It is also decided that all the players of Chennai will start training behind closed doors and they will only play if they passed through another test of covid-19. They should maintain a distance of 6ft from other players who hasn’t gone through this quarantine period and have to follow all the safety measures in order to participate in the league.
Chennai is the team that is three-time winners but Chennai ended runners-up in last year’s competition after the team lost to Mumbai Indians by just a run. The IPL (Indian Premier League) is all set to begin on September 19, 2020, with the finale on November 10, 2020. Every team is now practicing to win this league.
