TAUNTON: Batsman Babar Azam a star of Pakistan cricket team decided to rejoin Somerset for current year’s national Twenty20 Blast, this news was announced by England media on Saturday.
Babar Azam who’s the world’s top-ranked T20 batsman of team Pakistan also has the leading run score in edition of 2019 will play for Somerset this year in domestic cricket.
Babar Azam who is currently serving as a captain for Pakistan team in their Twenty 20 series in England after following all three Tests previously in the tour is now agreed to make a comeback to southwest club Somerset before the pandemic coronavirus (Covid-19) toppled up cricket schedules all around the world.
Babar Azam a 25 years old cricketer marking the history with his name is now all set to play for national cricket from Somerset and hoping to be qualified in final seven groups and knock out stages. He is known as the only player to be amongst the top 5 ICC rankings across all organizations.
As many countries has cancelled deals with international players due to Covid-19 pandemic, Babar will be seen with Somerset this year announced on Wednesday by English country. Many countries had decided to not to make any deal with overseas players because corona virus pandemic has taken over every country and it was quite difficult for any player to travel to another country. Though precautions can be taken but even though circumstances are not in the favor of anyone.
Babar Azam talked to Somerset, “For obvious reasons, this year has been very different from what we were all expecting, and I fully appreciate the challenges the game has faced globally as well as here in England.”
“We have all had to adapt and I’m just really pleased that we could find a way to make this happen. I hope that I can help to contribute to success on the field for Somerset again,” he added.
Babar has compiled 578 runs at a remarkable average of 52.54 and an astonishing strike-rate of 149.35 in his first season with Somerset which was quite impressive for such a young player.
While talking to Somerset media Andy Hurry, Somerset director of cricket said, “He is a great player, is so easy on the eye and fitted brilliantly into our environment last year,” he also said, “We consider Babar to be one of our own.”
Pakistani cricketer, currently a captain of team Babar Azam is now available to play for Somerset this year as he talked to media he announced that whole world is currently facing challenges due to this corona virus pandemic and many countries had stopped making deals with international players and in this situation he is already to accept all the challenges as he is very pleased to join Somerset and to make his national team proud of him.
